This whisky from a parcel of 39 freshly dumped bourbon barrels was first filled on 20th December 1984, when Long John owned the distillery. At the time of the ownership transferring to the Nikka Whisky Distilling Co. Ltd. in the spring of 1989 this parcel of casks was also purchased by the Japanese whisky distilling company. The whisky was allowed to continue to mature in these same casks for a total of 13 years until 14th October 1998 when the parcel was vatted and then filled back into 13 freshly dumped sherry puncheons. It was then returned to the warehouse and left to continue its maturation for a further 17 years. The cask was then selected earlier this year by La Maison du Whisky to be bottled exclusively for them in celebration of their 60 years in business.
