De oprichting van The GlenDronach distilleerderij vond plaats in 1826 in het plaatsje Forgue nabij Huntly in de Highlands, Schotland. Met bijna 200 jaar ervaring is The GlenDronach distilleerderij één van de oudste van de Highlands en een echte traditionale distilleerderij waar nog steeds hoofdzakelijk gebruik wordt gemaakt van de rijping op sherry vaten.

Trouw aan hun traditie maakt The GlenDronach vooral gebruik van zorgvuldig geselecteerde sherryvaten die handgemaakt zijn bij gerenommeerde sherry bodegas uit Zuid-Spanje (Jerez de la Frontera en Sanlúcar de Barrameda)

Oorsprong en botteling

De whisky die gebotteld is als de GlenDronach Grandeur is speciaal geselecteerd door onze meesterdistilleerder, Billy Walker, uit enkele van onze oudste en meest unieke Oloroso vaten van GlenDronach. Een uitgebreide selectie vaten, hogsheads, puncheons en butts hebben sinds de jaren 1960 liggen rijpen in onze traditionele warehouses, en het zijn de meest bijzondere en opmerkelijke vaten die zijn uitgekozen voor deze zeer speciale botteling. Deze voortreffelijke expressie is een fantastische weergave van de soepele, complexe en volle stijl waar de Glendronach beroemd om is. Individueel met de hand genummerd, is elke fles uniek.

Appearance

Glistering burnt amber holds a rich crimson heart.

Nose

A magnificent combination of honey-drenched dates and succulent raisins which gently ebb and flow with waves of delicate orange blossom, mint and cracked black pepper. Hints of glazes cherries and toasted almonds perfectly complement the seductive nose. A nose to be appreciated slowly and often.

Palate

A fabulously full-bodied, vibrant palate captures a multitude of classic sherry cask characteristics. The delicate sweetness of rum-soaked golden sultanas refines rich espresso, dark chocolate and treacle toffee. Zesty orange oil softens to a deep clove spice and prolongs the ever changing palate. A sublime example of understanding the relationship between cask and single malt perfectly.
