Bushmills 21 years

Bushmills 21 Year Old is a marriage of single malts matured for at least 19 years in hand-selected Oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels, then finished in Madeira casks for a further two years.
This unusually long finishing period allows our single malt to patiently mellow, mature and pick up deeper notes of ripe fruit and dried raisins from the fortified Portuguese wine casks. The 21 Year Old is only crafted in limited numbers and each bottle is numbered.

Tasting Notes: 

Colour: Deep mahogany

Nose: Rich aromas of fresh honey and ripe summer fruits combine with delicate notes of sweet hazelnuts and cacao

Taste: Deep rich flavours of dark chocolate and toffee precede notes of vanilla sweetness, toasted nuts and just a hint of charred oak

Finish: Long and delicate, synonymous of the subtle flavour journey of this unique triple wood single malt whiskey

Bushmills Distillery

Bushmills Distillery ligt in het pittoreske dorpje Bushmills in County Antrim, Noord-Ierland, dicht bij de beroemde Giant's Causeway. Opgericht in 1608, is Bushmills de oudste gelicentieerde distilleerderij ter wereld, met een rijke geschiedenis van meer dan 400 jaar.

Een uniek kenmerk van Bushmills Distillery is het gebruik van puur Iers water uit de St. Columb's Rill, een zijrivier van de Bush River. De distilleerderij maakt uitsluitend gebruik van drievoudige distillatie in koperen pot stills, wat resulteert in een uitzonderlijk soepele en zuivere whiskey. Bushmills staat bekend om zijn blend van single malt en graanwhiskey, maar biedt ook een uitgebreide selectie aan single malt whiskey's.

De whiskey’s van Bushmills hebben een karakteristiek fruitig en honingachtig profiel, met tonen van vanille, gedroogd fruit en subtiele kruiden. De rijping vindt plaats in een verscheidenheid aan vaten, waaronder ex-bourbon, sherry en rumvaten, wat zorgt voor een complexe en verfijnde smaak.
